Lonestar Sky is a homestead farm located in middle Tennessee on 13 rolling acres where we breed Nubian dairy goats. We are breeding for conformation and production. We attend as many shows as schedules permit and will be participating in Linear Appraisal this year.
Nubians are the most popular breed of dairy goats in the U.S. in part because of rich tasting, high butter fat content of their milk. Their milk is delicious to drink and it is perfect for making cheeses, yogurt and ice cream. We also use it to make soap and lotion which can be purchased on this site soon. Our current bloodlines include: Price O the Field, Pruittville, and Hagler Farms.
Our herd is vaccinated for CD/T and pneumonia. We test semi-anually for CAE and are completely negative.
We maintain an intense management program to ensure optimum herd health. Our entire herd is fed Alfalfa hay daily. Grain is fed based on the individual needs of each animal. Our milkers receive a ration that is 16% protein that is custom mixed at our local mill. Free choice minerals and kelp is available at all times.
Chemical worming is used only as needed based on fecal exams.
